A striking 6-foot-tall four-panel Chinese Coromandel-style folding screen or room divider, dating from the mid-20th century (c. 1960s). The front features a playful scene of galloping horses in a mountain landscape, meticulously rendered in hand-carved and painted relief, with accents in mother-of-pearl and hardstone inlay. The black lacquered surface is further detailed with gilt linework and floral borders. Each panel is double-hinged for flexibility and folds flat for storage.

Often referred to as a Chinese Coromandel screen, lacquered room divider, or oriental folding screen, this piece adds bold presence, texture, and drama to any interior—perfect behind a sofa, in an entryway, or used as a functional privacy screen.
