A French console and dining table in mahogany, dating to the early 20th century. Designed for versatility, the table functions as a narrow console when closed and expands to a full dining table when opened. The top features a chevron-patterned mahogany veneer with a crossbanded edge, supported by a pair of turned pedestals with tripod bases. Brass hinges allow the top to fold open smoothly, revealing a generous surface suitable for seating six to eight people.
Tables of this form were popular in Parisian apartments and smaller European homes, valued for their ability to maximize space while maintaining an elegant, refined presence.
