Pair of French Louis XIV style walnut armchairs, likely dating to the Napoleon III period (1860-1880). Constructed from solid walnut with shaped scroll arms, carved stretcher bases, and recently upholstered backs and seats in a red and gold damask fabric with nailhead trim. The walnut displays very rare natural spalting throughout portions of the frame, creating distinctive dark veining and movement within the wood grain.
