A very fine early 19th century Louis XVI Style Directoire commode from France. A shaped “Gris Sainte Anne” marble top with rounded front corners and a beveled edge sits above three short and two long paneled drawers. The rectangular panels are framed in brass and at the centre of each are the original ormolu lock escutcheons; The larger drawers also include rectangular brass pulls. The commode is framed at each corner with brass-inlay fluted columns that end on turned legs with brass collars and sabbots. Very fine craftsmanship.
