Louis XVI style chest of drawers from Paris, constructed in walnut with geometric parquetry veneers and fine line inlay. The case retains its original grey veined marble top with molded edge and is fitted with brass ring pulls, escutcheons, corner mounts, and decorative apron mounts in a restrained neoclassical idiom. Raised on tapering legs with brass sabots, the drawers feature hand-cut dovetails and oak secondary wood, consistent with French workshop production. Commonly referred to in France as a commode, circa 1880–1900.
