An elegant, French, Louis XV style writing desk, or ‘bonheur du jour’, the serpentine case veneered in book-matched Kingwood and raised on elegant cabriole legs and accented with gilt trim throughout. A single drawer to the frieze, and with fitted gilt-tooled leather writing surface. Smaller upper drawers flanking a central shelf above shaped beveled mirror. C. 1890
