A rare and large, antique, bronze “walking” Buddha from the ancient Kingdom of Siam (Now Thailand) with flowing robes, well detailed curled hair, and an unfastened finial, standing on a solid wood plinth. The Buddha’s hand is raised in the “Abhaya mudra” (the fearlessness gesture) – it is a pose of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Buddhism and other religions.
This statue is from the mid-18th century, or quite possibly even earlier.
