This hand-knotted Persian runner originates from the Hamedan (sometimes spelled Hamadan) region of western Iran, known for producing durable, character-rich rugs with bold central medallions and expressive floral motifs. Woven entirely of sheep’s wool and dyed using traditional vegetable pigments, the rug features a deep navy field framed by multiple borders in brick red, ivory, soft green, and muted blue, with a classic geometric medallion layout typical of village Hamedan work. Hamedans are valued for longevity rather than rarity, and the rug’s thick and resilient pile is testament to that, making it well suited to hallways or narrow spaces while retaining strong decorative presence.
