French Empire style walnut secretary desk (traditionally known in France as a secrétaire à abattant). in a dramatic flame walnut with aged black leather writing surface and ormolu mounts. Featuring a fall-front writing compartment fitted with pigeonholes and small drawers above a lower cabinet section, flanked by bold turned columns with gilt bronze capitals, and topped with a dark marble surface.
