This French Louis XVI style carved oak marriage armoire dates to the late 19th century and was crafted in the Normandy area of France from solid oak with a rich, warm patina. The facade features symmetrical floral and foliate carving, including a central basket crest beneath a dentilled cornice, beaded moulding, and a fluted and diamond-carved central stile. Original iron escutcheons and key remain present. Paneled construction with mortise and tenon joinery reflects traditional regional craftsmanship. The interior offers upper shelving, two drawers, and a lower storage compartment typical of Norman marriage armoires intended for linen and household storage.
