An impressive English Victorian walnut ‘Dickens’ desk, so-called because of a desk of similar design used by Charles Dickens. The desk features two banks of graduated drawers on each side of the knee hole, and an upper centre drawer. Slanted leather writing surface opens to reveal a fitted interior; flat surfaces to each side each also with tooled leather. The upper back features two banks of smaller fitted drawers joined back a back and with pierced brass gallery. Original solid brass Victorian pulls throughout. The piece is finished on the back side so may stand in the middle of a room if desired. C. 1880
