A superb English Victorian sideboard/Credenza, crafted in richly figured rosewood with a shaped white marble top. The cabinet has a serpentine front with mirrored doors, carved scrolling supports, and an elegant arched mirror crest rising above the marble. The rosewood has wonderful depth and movement, with dramatic grain, warm colour, and the sort of patina that only age has the decency to provide properly. The carved details give the piece presence without becoming overly heavy, while the mirrored panels help keep the overall effect lighter and more architectural.
