This long upholstered French Empire Revival style bench features a mahogany frame and ornate detailing, including scroll arms capped with gilt rosettes, a frieze with Greek key inlay, and a central marquetry motif. The bench is supported on saber legs ending in gilt paw feet. The seat and arms are upholstered in a striped damask fabric, tailored to emphasize the sculptural form. Pieces of this type were produced in North Carolina in the mid to late 20th century by skilled workshops known for creating high-quality reproductions of French and neoclassical designs.
