This French Louis XVI style figured mahogany cylinder desk features an open upper gallery with a molded top, three mirrored back panels, and four finely turned front columns above a row of small drawers. The roll-top is decorated with a hand-painted classical scene of reclining figures and putti, framed with gilt-bronze (ormolu) beading and mounts. Inside, the cylinder opens to a leather writing surface and a fitted bank of small drawers, with additional full-width drawers in the frieze below. From Paris, circa 1880.
