Built from thick, hand-planed chestnut planks, this rustic table dates to around 1800 and likely hails from rural Southern Europe. Its construction features traditional pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery, a hand-carved scalloped apron, and tool marks consistent with pre-industrial craftsmanship. One side of the stretcher includes a later-added vertical support—an old-world repair that adds both charm and structural integrity. The richly patinated surface, uneven from generations of use, makes this a piece with real presence and story.
