A finely executed Victorian Era oil painting depicting a solemn young girl traditionally posed before a moody landscape and dressed in a soft pink gown adorned with black scrolling embroidery and lace collar. Her dress is accented by a gilded brooch and pendant with turquoise-colored stones, painted in meticulous detail. Housed in a period fluted giltwood with foliate corner appliques, the canvas remains stretched on its original wooden frame and is signed “L. Futh” in red at the lower right. The brushwork and subtle craquelure patina amd academic style, suggest this was painted somewhere in Central Europe, circa 1870–1890.
