An antique bronze “Bayon Style” depiction of the Hindu and Buddhist deity, Ganesha. He has the head of an elephant and four arms, and each of his hands holds important items: His own broken tusk in one hand, a bowl of sweetmeats in another, his prayer beads in one, and finally, a conch shell. Ganesha is widely revered as the “Remover of Obstacles”, “Lord of Beginnings”, the patron of the arts and sciences, and the deity of intellect and wisdom.
The direction of Ganesha’s trunk has symbolic meaning, and here the trunk turns to Ganesha’s left. This represents calm and all manner of economic and monetary gains, and brings happiness and good fortune.
