A late 18th Century, Normandy Style armoire in solid oak with an incredible amount of exceptionally fine carvings from it’s Cornice down to the skirt. The frieze features a carving of a floral cornucopia flanked by foliage, and at the centre of each door a basket filled with flowers and gardening tools. Vertically from top to bottom, an unbroken line of various carvings following the same theme. Finally (and perhaps most interestingly), at the bottom is the letter “B” in beautifully dramatic cursive – it sits on a small pedestal, surrounded by foliage that sprawls to the carved edges.
Two paneled doors open to three shelves – one simple, one with 2 drawers, and the other with a single large drawer, providing abundant storage space.
A previous owner altered the feet of this piece so that it sits less than 8′ tall now, making it an excellent fit for any home.
