This French Transitional style (a blend of the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles) commode, featuring a subtle breakfront design beneath a shaped marble top, beautifully curved sides, and geometric and floral marquetry designs in kingwood and tulipwood. The dresser is framed by fluted stiles and gilt-bronze mounts with laurel wreath pulls and acanthus accents, and is raised on cabriole legs capped in bronze sabots. From Paris, circa 1880-1890.
