A French Empire period flame mahogany gueridon or center table, from the first half of the 19th century. The remarkable central pedestal rises from a tripodal base, terminating in carved paw feet. The internal construction, visible beneath the marble, shows hand-cut boards and joinery, and hand-made screws -all consistent with early 19th century workmanship. The marble top is likely a later replacement, and the table base has been professionally refinished.
