An extraordinary early 20th century French Louis XVI style dining table showcasing remarkable craftsmanship in both materials and ornamentation. The shaped top is veneered in bookmatched burl walnut with satinwood inlay and intricate floral marquetry, featuring ribbon-tied wreaths with birds, torches, and foliage — all symbols of Enlightenment ideals. The apron is set with hand-painted Sèvres-style porcelain medallions in gilt bronze wreath mounts, each separated by carved gilt rosettes and finely cast ormolu trim. Raised on tapered, inlaid legs ending in substantial gilt bronze lion-paw sabots. A hidden internal matching leaf (not photographed) extends the table by 20″.
