A magnificent handmade French Aubusson style verdure tapestry by renowned French tapestry manufacturer Robert Four, inspired by historic 15th and 16th-century French tapestry designs.

This beautifully detailed tapestry depicts an enchanting woodland landscape populated by exotic birds, including magnificent peacocks, surrounded by lush, oversized foliage, flowering trees, and delicate botanical motifs. A picturesque medieval village and distant architectural landscape create a charming backdrop, while an elaborate floral border frames the entire composition.

The design reflects the celebrated French verdure tapestry tradition, incorporating the distinctive oversized, curling foliage associated with early feuilles de chou (cabbage leaf) tapestries. Richly woven in a harmonious palette of deep forest greens, muted blues, warm golds, terracotta, and soft earth tones, the tapestry beautifully captures the romantic character and decorative richness of historic French textile artistry. Produced by Robert Four, whose renowned Aubusson workshop has continued the tradition of fine French tapestry making since the 20th century.
