A striking Empire style executive desk, richly crafted from flame mahogany with exceptional attention to classical detail. The desk features a rectangular form with a dark green leather top inset, bordered by fine gilt tooling, and protected by a fitted glass cover. The frieze is decorated with a continuous Greek key motif in gilt, punctuated by a central panel of floral marquetry and gilt rosettes at the corners. Supporting the desk are fluted mahogany columns capped with gilt capitals and bases, lending an architectural presence to the design. The paneled sides and front showcase book matched mahogany veneers framed with boxwood inlay, the central panel adorned with a laurel wreath motif in marquetry. C.1995 made in North Carolina.
