A striking Chinese lacquer display cabinet, dating to the mid–20th century. The upper section features glass doors painted with vibrant scenes of peacocks, birds, and flowering peonies, symbols of prosperity and beauty in Chinese art. Below, four drawers and double cupboard doors are richly decorated with figural court scenes, framed by floral and geometric gilt borders.
The cabinet is finished in black lacquer with multi-colored hand-painted decoration and fitted with engraved brass hardware showing natural patina. Likely produced in Hong Kong or mainland China for the export market during the 1960s–1980s, it reflects fine craftsmanship and decorative artistry.
