A French Napoleon III porcelain urn, dating to approximately 1880. The urn features a rich yellow ground decorated with gilt ornamentation and hand-painted scenic reserves, including a romantic courting scene and a landscape view on opposite sides of the body. Elaborate ormolu mounts include finely cast satyr masks with spiraling ram’s horns, acanthus collars, and a shaped octagonal base.
The underside of the removable lid bears a blue Sèvres-style mark, consistent with the widespread revival of Sèvres-inspired decorative arts produced in France during the second half of the 19th century.
