19th Century Meiji period Japanese two-section Tansu chest in lovely original condition.

The two-button locking mechanism and brass butterfly details identify this as a chest from the town of Nihonmatsu, in the Northern Japan.

The two sections are equal dimensions and could be used separately.

Japanese cedar wood or ‘sugi’.

45.5″ Wide x 19″ Deep x 47.5″ Tall.
