French carved oak Louis XIII-style library table or ‘bureau plat’ – with gilt-tooled leather top and carved Renaissance-Revival details. The desk is finished on all sides, having drawers on one side and ‘faux’ drawers on the other, and stands on eight ‘os de mouton’ legs joined by a central stretcher. Parisian makers plaque inside one drawer. C.1880.
