An unusual traveller’s desk with a pierced gallery surround enclosing lidded compartments and slot for a pen, the marquetry top opening to reveal fitted drawers, as well as a hardwood ‘dowel’ in its own slot- likely used to roll over blotting paper.
The interior opens further to allow for storage below the leather writing surface for paper, envelopes etc.
A remarkably-complex little piece in excellent original condition. Anglo-Indian, Circa 1890.
