An exceptional Italian cabinet on stand, the upper two-door cabinet with hand-painted scenes in oil to the doors and sides, the doors opening to reveal a fitted liquor cabinet interior with slots for wine bottles and a central rotating bottle holder. The base features a carved apron and highly-carved panels embellished with faces, flowers, figures in chariots, horses, etc. It is raised up on elegant shaped and carved cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet and united by a profusely carved serpentine stretcher base.
The piece dates to the 1920’s, with interior modifications (stainless steel lining and fittings for bottles) undertaken in the 1960’s when the piece was adapted for use in a restaurant.
