A most impressive and fine quality English Renaissance revival buffet in oak, profusely carved with a variety of vines and botanical motifs, the doors featuring finely carved faces and leaves etc. A central mirror is flanked by carved panels with various heraldic symbols, with carved figural columns in front supporting a further upper shelf, also highly carved and with carved baluster-turned columns. Three lower doors open to cupboards with central shelf; above the cupboards are two large drawers with scroll-carved fronts and ‘green man’ handles. A remarkable quality piece with exceptionally fine hand carving throughout. Lovely original finish with a warm colour and patina. Probably the best example of carved oak Renaissance revival furniture we’ve seen in ten or fifteen years.
