An excellent-quality, large, breakfront, three-door ebony side cabinet, or credenza, featuring brass and tortoise-shell ‘Boulle’ inlaid doors and panels, the case further embellished with inlaid brass stringing and very fine gilt ormolu mounts.

One of the best examples of ‘Boulle’ we’ve ever offered in the store – of a quality and on a scale rarely seen. Typically these cabinets consist of a single inlaid boulle door flanked by two glass-fronted sections; this cabinet is the reverse, offering two inlaid doors and a single door of glass – a much more dramatic and impressive effect.

Consigned by a three-generation Vancouver Shaughnessy family.

English, ‘in the French taste’, C. 1860.
