A late 18th century, Louis XV buffet from Paris made of solid walnut with dramatic veining. Beautiful character to the wood and hand-carvings of flowers and vines. An unusual size, this buffet has a dough box above with a top that pivots on forged iron hinges, secured by handmade “rosehead” nails. The lid has a lock with the original key, though it doesn’t seem to function any more. The interior provides ample storage, opening to four strong shelves. All original with a rich, waxed patina. Circa 1790-1800.
