A French Louis XVI-Style commode from the 19th century. This chest features three graduated dovetailed drawers set within rounded and fluted front side posts. The drawers are each adorn with brass Neoclassic style hardware, with pair of garland pull handles and decorative escutcheon at their centers. The chest is nicely raised upon rounded legs.
This piece has been stripped and bleached down to its wood finish; hints of brown colors showing through in some areas. It was hand finished with a light wax.
This handsome chest would work really well in a bedroom as a dresser, or in a foyer or living area with decorative items atop and storage within.
